IC Information:
Name: Damara Megido / Mara Megido
Canon: Homestuck.
Age: 19 (approx. the same in canon, minus eternity)
Preincarnation Appearance: Image! Basically, troll. Dead troll.
Any differences: Human, for one, of Japanese descent. No horns, no gray skin, as well as no afterlife white eyes. Naturally black haired, in the same style as her preincarnation but occasionally dyed other colours (usually for cosplay purposes).
Preincarnated History:

Damara Megido is described as living her life pre-Sgrub as with a guild of tree-dwelling otakus known as the Lost Weeaboos within a forest, on the troll planet Beforus. Beforus troll culture is notably different from it's post-scratch iteration Alternia, as culling is essentially caring for the less fortunate and weak as opposed to killing them; Beforus was a far less violent planet. It was in a forest by the sea she met Rufioh Nitram, and entered a "flushed relationship" (basically similar to a human romantic relationship), which would not end well for Damara. Rufioh was unfaithful, cheating on her with Horuss Zahhak. Damara was distraught by this, but unsure what to do and unwilling to break off the relationship herself.

It wasn't till after the Sgrub session began that she "performed an acrobatic fucking pirouette off the deep end", following Meenah Piexes' bullying of her over the matter. It is said that before then, she was a meek person. It is possible that her radical personality shift from meekness to violent loose cannon may have been more than just the affect of Meenah's bullying, possibly correlating to her implied support of Lord English. Sadness turning to vengeful anger, and she paralyzed Rufioh from the neck down. Eventually she engaged Meenah in a duel, where she would kill Meenah (and cause Meenah to ascend to god-tier). Damara isn't said to have done the same, or at least she does not indicate if she did.

As the Time player for her session, her planet in the Medium contained the Cardinal Movement, which was used to cause the Scratch of the session. Before that though, it is said that Damara took to using her Witch of Time powers to wreak havoc upon her teammates, sabotaging their efforts. The only time she appeared to cooperate with her fellow players was to initiate the Scratch. She is said to have said something about them "getting what they deserved" before initiating the Scratch. Before it took effect, she and her co-players were killed by Meenah so that they could continue to exist as ghosts in the Furthest Ring.

Damara apparently spent most of the ensuing eternity continuing to agitate and make her fellows uncomfortable, including aggressively suggestive and crude remarks. Despite her provocative/crude language it is said that she has had no sexual relationships since her failed relationship with Rufioh. When asked by Meenah if she had ascended to god tier, Damara evades answering. When asked if she would join Meenah's army against Lord English, Damara says that Meenah will fail as Lord English is far more powerful.

Reincarnated History:
Lucy (the Aradia applicant) and I have discussed everything mentioned in both our applications, and she has my full approval for all Damara-related parts of her app, and vice-versa.
Mara's beginnings are in her parents. She only knew her father for three years, when he left following little sister Aria's birth. She remembers very little of her father, but is not particularly resentful of the abandonment. As a child, she asked her mother why daddy was gone, and later what he was like when memories began to fade with age. But mother Megido was the most vague, riddle-prone woman you'd ever meet, changing her tales every time she told them. It became clearly pointless to bother, after a while.

Mother Megido was a travel photographer, and as such was often away. During these times, the sisters were left with relatives-- their grandparents in Locke City often, or aunts or other relatives sometimes. Even if she was physically absent, Mara never felt actually abandoned. Their mother often sent letters and things, usually with some kind of "guess where I am" riddle for the girls to solve so they could "win" souvenirs. Much time was spent in local libraries, searching for the answers to riddle clues. When they failed, it was met with a "better luck next time!" and no right answer.

Mara could always be strongly defined as "one of those animanga nerds", from an early age after she discovered Japanese-style comic books. She liked them much better than American comic books, as she wasn't really fan of boring men in their underwear saving stupid cities vs her loving interest in magical girls saving Tokyo. She moved into video game and card collecting territory later, followed by cosplay. Her grandmother helped her sew some of her earliest costumes, of Sailor Moon or Mars, of Cardcaptor Sakura, of Misty from pokemon. Grandmother Megido didn't understand the point of dressing up like fake people to run around town (later go to small conventions / meet-ups), but their grandparents supported their hobbies and independence as they had their daughter's.

Mara was never an excellent student (outside of math or art), and it didn't help that the girls were constantly switching schools as they went from one relative to another, never having a stable home life even if it was a good life. She usually dragged herself to barely pass each grade by the skin of her teeth, refusing to fail even when she was dumped into different curriculum farther along than the ones before.

Once she turned eighteen, she decided that her and Aria's skip-hop from relative to relative across the country was over, as she was all the authority that either needed. The girls got an apartment in Locke City's Little Tokyo near their grandparents, cheap enough for their mother's salary and later for Mara's salary after she graduated High School (barely). She got work waitressing, in addition to running a surprisingly successful webcomic about magical girls... saving cities, yeah Mara can be pretty predictable. Even though the girls are on their own, independent, they rarely do anything exciting with this freedom besides eat pizza three times a week. While Mara tends to come off as "metal rock party girl" sometimes, she mostly parties in LARP or at fan conventions. Her coolness is a big huge lie.

First Echo: What caused their first Echo, and what did it give them? Players may choose events from the timeline or a canon reoccurence. Keep these Echoes simple, but meaningful.
Recently, Mara was in the midst of a Live Action Roleplaying campaign and got into a rather surprising fight with a fellow LARPer (over some forgettable offense that was likely extremely !!!-worthy to garner Mara's ire to such an extent) when she flashed back to a very different fight-- Damara's duel with Meenah Peixes. It was brief, lasting only just after the fight when she snapped out of it. During the few minutes where she was echoing to another life, she basically felt how Damara felt-- anger, resentment, and satisfaction when "Meenah"/the LARPer was beaten. When it ended, it was incredibly awkward because she thought she'd turned the guy into a bloody, dying pulp. Thankfully not, and he later bought her pizza in apology so.

Nevertheless, the incident is something that Mara found particularly weird as fuck.

The string of numbers were also strange, but she believes she is just misremembering some phone number song.

Preincarnation Personality:
It is said that Damara was a meek person before beginning Sgrub. Even when she knew that her matesprit (read: boyfriend) was cheating on her, she didn't do anything except despair over the matter, not even moving to break-up with him prior to playing Sgrub where she essentially went off the deep end, becoming vengeful and violent-- so much as paralyzing her ex and killing Meenah Peixes in a duel. While Aranea Serket notes that she didn't think the radical personality shift could be solely contributed to Meenah's bullying at the beginning of Sgrub, it certainly had at least a large impact on Damara's sudden shift.

During her time in Sgurb, she abused her powers to sabotage the other trolls' efforts to win the game-- even though this was as much a detriment to herself as anyone else. This pretty much shows she gave no fucks at this point except to screw everyone ever. The only time she works with the other trolls is when she is asked to initiate the Scratch, which would effectively end their existence. Her response was that they "would all get what they deserved", a rather unoptimistic, disturbing sentiment that is a testament to Damara's mix of angry crazy.

While few of her fellow trolls could understand her "East Beforan" accent, this didn't stop her from harassing them with sexually pervasive and lengthy text that rarely actually involved responding to anything her fellows were trying to talk to her about. The only one she didn't seem to do this with is Rufioh, who also happened to be the only one who could understand her accent. She did, however, request "sexual favors" from him in return for removing an iceberg-- that said, it is known she had not had any sexual relationships with any of the other trolls since her break-up with Rufioh. So, while her speech is peppered with sexual harassment, she is not actually soliciting for sex and was purely aiming to bother / harass / annoy her fellows / or purely was just bored, frankly it's hard to tell.

Any differences:
Given their different upbringings-- Damara, raised in a guild of tree-dwelling otakus vs Mara, raised by varying relatives alongside her younger sister on, you know, Earth-- some of the differences between the two are very clear. Others, perhaps, not so much.

Mara is not a particularly vengeful person. She does not hold grudges, nor is she particularly temperamental-- easily frustrated, perhaps, but rarely is she actually angry. Her bark is definitely worse than her bite. Where Damara paralyzed her ex-boyfriend from the neck down and killed some of her peers, Mara would... not... do... that. At all. Ever. While Mara has been in a few fights before, they are rare and she's honestly a pretty gentle fighter.

While Damara was meek by default on Beforus, she was raised on Beforus. It should be noted here that Beforus is not at all like Alternia, which you may have read about in other applications. In Beforus culling meant taking care of the lower blood castes when they were not capable of it themselves, rather than killing them if they were too weak to survive. Beforus actually appeared to be more peaceful a place than even Earth was, with such policies in place. What caused Damara to change there was the constant bullying she went through at the hands of Meenah.

On Earth, this obviously never happened. Instead Mara had a different base to start with. While she could have ended up the meek girl hailing back to the original Damara on Beforus, she ended up not like that self and not entirely like her more hardened, embittered self either. Mara was raised by an independent woman who was a wild child, and wasn't raised to be meek at all. Mama Megido raised her girls to make their own decisions and stand by them, and Mara's grandparents also tried to teach their granddaughters how to stand up for themselves. In America, Mara had a more typical teenaged upbringing, and was exposed to more media and the like that displayed cruder images and harsher personalities. She never felt the need to really censure herself, and while she never became a hard, bitter girl, there were experiences that taught her to keep her guard up somewhat. In particular was how often she and Aria were moved around right up until her high school graduation. While Damara only faced that final loss of Rufioh and the bullying at Meenah's hands, Mara has lost many friends simply because she's had to leave them behind. She had to learn to harden herself a little in order to deal with that.

Like Damara, Mara tends to give off that Gives No Fucks intimidating air. But it's differently sourced-- it could be said that Damara's comes from the heartbreak/bullying she suffered, turning into a hard outer shell, Mara's is purely just how she is. Of course, while she has that air, Mara actually gives a lot of fucks about things. This isn't some purposeful Tough Girl act on Mara's part. It's just when she opens her mouth, her rough speech combined with candy cigarettes or marijuana joints (she doesn't smoke actual cigarettes but she does occasionally smoke a joint) just give off that appearance. She really is a fairly kind-hearted and nice girl, much like it's implied Damara was but to a different extent and without a jealous bitterness.

In addition to moving around a great deal and leaving people and places behind, Mara had the responsibility of Aria to look out for, which wasn't true in her preincarnated life. Trolls didn't have siblings or families other than their lusus, and so Damara was never shown to really feel a strong personal responsibility to any of the trolls from her session. Mara, on the other hand, grew up faster than she might otherwise have done with the knowledge that she was the older sister, and had someone to look out for. She grew up hearing that: "you're the big sister, so you have to watch out for Aria". While she never resented this, it was definitely something that colored and changed the way in which she acted. "Responsible" and "bad girl air" might not sound similar, but becoming more of an adult had that effect on her.

While it's not explicitly stated that Damara is particularly responsible or irresponsible as a person, Mara is very likely moreso than her pre-incarnation. As Mara and her sister were generally the only constant in each other's lives, Mara feels very responsible for her sister. Not maternal, per se, as they are fairly close in age and Mara is just not a particularly maternal person overall. She is very protective of her little sister, but it should be said that the Megido girls are both independent-- in general, and of each other. But should someone threaten or hurt Aria, it is certain that Mara's bite would become a lot worse than her bark. Probably not murdery worse, which isn't exactly a sane human behavior.

Abilities:
♈ Like all trolls, her skin was a hardier texture than of humans. While on her planet Beforus was far kinder than it's post-Scratch iteration Alternia, trolls were still a tougher race than humans on a general scale.

♈ Her number one skill seemed to be making people incredibly uncomfortable with a constant stream of perverted language in broken Japanase (described in-canon as being an East Beforan accent), solely for the purpose of agitating people.

Her post-Scratch iteration, The Handmaid, displays some kind of psychic powers. Given that many lowblooded trolls exhibit powers, and powers seem to be fairly aligned between pre- and post-Scratch lives, it can be surmised that Damara also had these powers. I feel that Damara's powers would probably be simple telekinesis - which is what Aradia's and the Handmaid's seem to amount to, sans their respective ghost-talking and clock magic abilities. So nothing major.

♈ As the "Witch of Time", Damara's powers (like the other Time players) allowed her jump around the timestream. She apparently used this mainly to sabotage her fellows. As it is assumed that she did not achieve god-tier (she evades the question, so it is possible Meenah killed when Damara killed her but), her powers were not as powerful as they could be.

♈ Like her post-Scratch iteration, Damara appears to use wand or needlekind strife specibus.

Roleplay Sample - Network:
Right let me just get this straight. Random bunch of numbers = secret network.

ngl, tbh, don't care tell me how to get rid of it. It's wrecking my comic page. How the shit are my magical girl superheros supposed to save the world with a secret goddamn network covering up the page. Legit has ruined half my panels, and if I don't get them back I will find whichever shadowy government agency runs this shit and out it like a whistle-blower.

p.s. anyone who can give me a rundown on how a secret network can work on paper / what this is for / why I can access it, I am all for that.

SINCERELY,
M.M.
